The Hyborian exodus happened quickly. We moved from the realms of King Conan onto the Glittering Plain. A journey the Company has taken before, from one land to the next. This was my first such move.
Long months have passed and we have garrisoned an ancient and crumbling citadel on a vast stone plain. The Company is preparing for deployment. The shadow gates, the means of moving from this limbo into the next world are finicky arcane machines. Waiting. It will take longer than expected for the Company to make its move.
Those of us who made it through the sputtering gate now do our best to scout the new world and keep a low profile.

Departure
We have left Hyboria. As I said in my opening entry - when they move, I will move with them.
The reasons for the departure were multiple, but when viewed with some clarity and hindsight seem obvious. The world we have left was tainted, the battle there was muted. Opportunities and goals there diminished as we grew in strength.
The Company has moved into a Limbo of sorts, known as the Glittering Plains. We await word to once again move out into a new battlefield and new opportunity.

Looking for trouble in TR
The bridges in Thunder River are excellent choke points to intercept foes or prey. This night, I waited for a fight. As the moon rose a horseman appeared and galloped across the bridge towards me.
His lack of regard for his own safety momentarily stunned me. This region is dangerous, and to gallop around, alone, into the face of a potential waiting enemy seemed foolhardy. I shook my head and watched him gallop across the bridge crouched low over his horse. Why I did not act and kill him I cannot say. I watched him fly past. I was looking for a more worthy opponent and while chopping a man from his horse is a simple, useful and often deadly tactic, I was looking for a fight.
I waited longer. The moon rose further and the only sound was the roar of the cascade below me. Such times are helpful to contemplate deeper matters. Suddenly there was a noise behind me. I pulled my sword and whirled towards the source.
The rider had returned. He was galloping straight for the bridge, once again seemingly oblivious to any danger. This was too much for me. This fool would be taught just how dangerous Thunder River was. I swung quickly. The horse reared and jumped and flew down the bridge.
In a blink I had traversed the growing distance between us and swung again. In a state of blind panic, the rider spurred his horse and leapt over the rope railing and plunged into the river below and over the cascades. I watched for a moment and considered the drop. Tiny flames crackled and hissed on the damp wooden bridge.
It is a very long swim from so far down Thunder River. I returned to my contemplations. The demon within murmured restlessly.

Portrait of a Murderer
Once again I find myself labelled 'Murderer'. Another interesting encounter. Several Black Company brothers came to the aid of a recruit who was facing unfavourable odds against several attackers. Company honour upheld, the recruit was bailed out and now I must pay penance.

We gather, we fight.
Our city slowly nears completion. Her completion will mark a milestone in the Company's history in Hyboria. She requires an endless supply of materials and it falls in large part, to the Supply Division to fulfil her needs. Still we gather.
Territorial disputes occur. The resource areas are contested. Even Poitan is becoming dangerous.

One destiny completed. Many more to come.
Life is hectic with the Black Company. Sieges, training, gathering. I had been carrying around a crumpled piece of papyrus in my cloak for what must have been months. When I finally dug it out there was a poorly drawn map leading to the chamber of the Grim Grey God.

A Week in the Trenches
The week has been a busy one for the Company. We worked 3 sieges, and our reputation grows in Hyborea.

I was present for two of them. Both were unqualified wins for the Client. In the first case, the defenders didn't even mount a defence they were so badly outnumbered. Exophagy lost their Battle Keep without even a whimper. As a consequence, a number of Company brothers stood around and watched. And got paid.
The second siege was bloodier, but the result was the same. A well coordinated battle plan and some heavy mercenary help from TBC and another mercenary outfit known as the Soldiers of the Black Sun made success nearly inevitable.

The third siege was missed. A rare rift in the space time fabric made coordinating the start time difficult. Several brothers including myself got missed and were left drinking ale in the Green Man Tavern and waiting for word from the battle.
I will keep training and learning. Hand to hand in siege combat is a different beast than 1v1 PvP. Massive amounts of damage can be directed on single targets, and I find myself to be extremely vulnerable in large melee groups. Casters and rangers make me an easy target. I fell to ranged attacks far more often than enemy steel. I train and I plan.
Some minor annoyances persist - unsteady Clients who either plan poorly or not at all, difficulties with time co-ordinates and some rethinking about skill sets to best fight PvP.
All in a days pay.
